# 16 Appendix B Order Entry Controls and Validation Framework

## Overview

To protect Participants from costly errors while maintaining a smooth trading experience, the Exchange implements a comprehensive order validation and confirmation process.

## Automated Order Validation

All orders are subject to automated pre-trade validation against multiple criteria before entry into the Order Book. Orders that fail any validation check are rejected immediately with a specific rejection reason.

## (Optional) Order Review Window

{% hint style="warning" %}
**\[DECISION REQUIRED - Item 22]:** Implement optional order review window?
{% endhint %}

**Concept:**

* Brief delay (e.g., 2-5 seconds) before order becomes active
* Participant can cancel during review window
* Configurable per Participant or Member organization
* Does not apply to Market Makers (to preserve quoting speed)

## Fat-Finger Prevention

**Automatic Warning Prompts:** When potential inconsistencies are detected (unusual price levels, large order sizes, etc.), the Participant receives a warning prompt to review the order details before submission. The Participant may confirm or amend the order.

**Examples of warning triggers:**

* Order price outside expected range (e.g., >10% from market)
* Order size significantly larger than recent activity
* Order would consume substantial Trading Limit
